Apartmenthaus Döbling

Heiligenstädter Straße 33, 1190 Wien

Description

The district that was first mentioned as Tobilic in 1114 combines the former independent municipalities of Ober-Döbling and Unter-Döbling, Sievering, Grinzing, Heiligenstadt, Nußdorf, Kahlenbergerdorf, Josefsdorf, and Salmannsdorf as well as Neustift and stretches from the Danube and the upper Danube canal via the vantage points of Nußberg, Krapfenwaldl, Cobenzl and Himmel to the bordering mountain chain of the Wienerwald, that stretches from Dreimarkstein to Hermannskogel and Kahlenberg and then falls sharply from Leopoldsberg to the Danube.

The Danube port of Kuchelau was established on the north edge of the district as part of regulating the Danube and provides water enthusiasts and athletes a multitude of possibilities with its marina, facilities for rowing, paddling and swimming, but also its tennis courts and the Danube cycling path. J.P. Cobenzl put a castle at the former Latisberg, (that is now named after him) with a large landscape park, where later, K. Reichenbach invented creosote and paraffin. Today there is a restaurant in the grounds that offers a fantastic view over Vienna.
